BME 300 Fundamentals of Biomedical Engineering

This course introduces the field of biomedical engineering, covering core areas such as bioinstrumentation, medical imaging, biomechanics, biomaterials, and biotechnology. Students explore the interaction between engineering and human health through hands-on activities, case studies, and discussion of ethical and societal impacts. Emphasis is placed on both technical foundations and professional skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem solving. Fee: $50

BME 465 Tissue Mechanics

Applications of solid mechanics principles to understand mechanical response of biological tissues to physiological loading. Determination of appropriate mechanical testing methods to simulate physiological loading experienced by biological tissues in situ. Analysis of experimental load and deformation data to determine mechanical properties of biological tissues.
