Adolescents across language backgrounds are asked to develop multiple academic and disciplinary literacies within specific subject areas in grades 6-12. This course reviews recent research and theoretically sound practices to improve students’ receptive and expressive language skills in subject-area instruction, highlighting the role that language integration and differentiation play in designing equitable learning opportunities.
